Can an Infant Outgrow a Milk Allergy?
Many children do outgrow a milk allergy, but it does depend on the child. Sometimes an infant’s allergy is the result of an immature digestive system, and by the time she turns 1, parents can cautiously start trying small amounts of cow’s milk and watch the child’s reaction to it. According to BabyCenter, some children take longer to outgrow a milk allergy, with less than half outgrowing it before age 10, and some living with it the rest of their life. As with any allergy, the parents and child will learn to avoid the food that triggers that reaction, in this case dairy products, and they will adjust their diet accordingly.
