Can an honest, humble man become a salesman without losing his soul?

For sure. My BIL is a car salesman and a more honest, conscientious kind man will you find who will bend over backwards to get you just the right car. And he will make sure it works well and is clean. But then again, he works on an individual basis and buys cars for each person, like to order, used ones only. But he advertises not at all as he doesn’t need to. People come to him word of mouth.

All depends on whether your salesman sells a product or service that he really, genuinely believes is beneficial to the buyer. If that is the case, he would no doubt be able to sleep peacefully at night.
