Can an employer sack you for threatening a colleague outside of work?
Yes they can. Even though the threat was made outside of work, it doesn’t just go away when you walk into work the next morning. The colleague is going to still feel victimized and feel like you could be still be a risk to their safety. I had to fire someone recently for threatening another employee. It was at work, but I learned a lot more about the law when I discussed it with our attorney.
