Can an EEX system provide hot water for a building?
A desuperheater may be installed any residential sized building to provide hot water for use in the home. A desuperheater is a small heat exchanger located on the outlet of the heat pump. Heat is transferred from the heat pump to the desuperheater where it is usually transferred to the homes hot water tank and then to the shower or faucet for use. Traditionally these systems had the benefit of free hot water in the summer but the drawback of less heat in the winter or no heat when the system is not in operation during the spring and fall. Today many manufacturers produce “full demand” systems that make use of a separate heat exchanger to provide for all of the homes hot water needs. These new systems provide efficient water heating at any time of the year as quickly as any traditional water heater.
