Can an atypical provider send standard transactions electronically?

0

Yes, an atypical provider such as a non-emergency transportation provider may use electronic data interchange (EDI). Using EDI does not determine if the provider is providing health care services or not. Since a non-emergency transportation provider cannot get an NPI, the current Arkansas Medicaid Provider ID must be used. A typical health care provider must use a valid NPI on electronic claims. An atypical provider does not use an NPI; this type of provider must use the Arkansas Medicaid provider number on electronic claims.
