Can an athlete travel without his/her immediate family?

Yes. An athlete may join a team if his/her parent(s) or guardian(s) do not come along on the trip if in addition to all of the proper travel documents a notarized power of attorney and waiver of liability is provided to allow the coach to make emergency medical and other decisions, if necessary. A complete medical history and a supply of medications, if required, must be provided. Typically, about half of the team members travel without parents or guardians.
