Can an Alberta regional office of a national organization apply to the Donation Grant Program?
It depends. If the regional office can demonstrate that the organization is registered in the province of Alberta and the donations have been raised in Alberta and will be used to support programs and services in Alberta, then those donations may be considered as eligible cash donations. Financial reports indicating only the Alberta donation portion must be provided to support the application. If, however, donations are sent to an out-of-Alberta address (e.g. Toronto) and the official income tax receipt is issued from a headquarter office (e.g. Toronto), those donations will only qualify if they flow back to the regional office in Alberta to support programs and services in Alberta. Financial evidence will be required detailing the Alberta donation portion.
