Can an African Grey have psycological problems?
Bird plucking in general is a problem with some species and greys and cockatoo’s are often prone to plucking behavior’s. Depending on your winter weather and house tempature, you should buy a new, big spray bottle. Rinse it out well in water and spray in the sink to clean it. Then re-fill with plain water * never use anything, but water on a birds feather’s. Hold the filled bottle high above the bird or birds and spray letting the mist fall down and onto the birds body, do this several times. Dry air from a furnace dry’s out the skin and feather’s and this water spray will feel good, clean the feather’s and give moisture to the skin on the bird. Another thing that can cause plucking in birds is if there is something new or anything in the room that scares the bird. New anything can start plucking if the bird is stressed by it, so check the room. Too many toys can be over bearing in a cage to a bird, try removing some, then weekly change toys so there is one or two “new” one’s to entert
