Can an adult stem cell transplant cause cancer?
The basic science on adult stem cells shows that if the cells are kept in culture for short periods, that there is no risk of the cells becoming cancerous. In addition, our own 6 month to 2 year follow-up studies with high definition MRI show no evidence that the cells grown with our technique have promoted tumor formation or caused ill effects. We have submitted this research data for scientific publication. Finally, we maintain an extensive complications tracking database with patient contacts at specified times. We have seen no evidence of significant complications at these transplant sites.
