Can an Activity Requirement be expressed in hours rather than days as much of YOT reparative activity is completed in hours?
No. The legislation only permits an Activity Requirement to be stated in days. Where the YOT wants to deliver an activity that is stipulated in hours, then the YOT will need to determine how many hours must be completed during a day and recommend an appropriate number of days on that basis. e.g. a YOT’s reparation programme runs for four hours per day. The YOT wants the young person to complete 20 hours of reparation work. The YOT should ask for a reparation programme for five days under the Activity Requirement.
