Can American booty beat back sunshine-state ennui?
Film Review: Bart Got a Room (2.5 stars) Bart Got a Room begins with one of the most unenthused high-school band performances ever. Although their rendition of Swing, Swing, Swing sounds upbeat and lively, as soon as the camera focuses on the individual students, it becomes clear they’re just doing this for credit. The trumpet player, especially, seems to be suffering from some major teenage ennui – in a two-second rest between bars, he heaves an inaudible but entirely visible sigh. The trumpet-player’s name, it turns out, is Danny (Steven Kaplan). He lives in suburban Florida with his parents, who are going through a divorce. This is the least of his concerns, though: It’s two months until prom, and he doesn’t have a date.
