Can Alliance detect a break-in attempt by hackers?
Alliance keeps track of how many attempts to log on to Telnet on the AS/400 have failed because of a security violation. It will start notifying you when the warning threshold is exceeded, and increases the notification severity level when the alert level is exceeded. This is called Intruder Alert. You can receive notifications to message queues, E-mail addresses (OfficeVision, Internet, etc.), and to a data queue. In addition, all security violations are logged to an Telnet history file. Alliance is a pro-active presence on your AS/400 preventing unauthorized access. Intruder Alert also has the ability to completely shut down Telnet support on the AS/400 after the alert level has been exceeded. For unattended AS/400s, or AS/400s that are available during off-hours, Intruder Alert can terminate the Telnet server on the AS/400 to prevent access. This provides an additional level of security for the AS/400.
