Can all debt be discharged?
In bankruptcy, the most common unsecured debts are usually dischargeable in bankruptcy. This means that the debts can be eliminated through the bankruptcy case. Most of these debts include credit cards, personal loans not associated with property that can be obtained if a debt is not paid, and unpaid bills.
Debts that cannot be discharged (or eliminated) in bankruptcy include:
Certain taxes
Domestic support obligations
Student loans
Debts not included in the bankruptcy petition
Money, goods, or services by fraud or deception
Death or injury caused by the debtor’s driving while intoxicated
Fiduciary fraud, larceny, or embezzlement
