Can algae be controlled in ponds or water sources?

0

Algae can be controlled with copper sulfate in concentrations of about 1.0 ppm. This is equivalent to 3 pounds of copper sulfate per acre-foot of water. To keep algae under control several applications may need to be made to the body of water. It is not recommended that livestock drink the treated water. Also, algae blooms can occur in a very short period of time and it may be extremely difficult to control all blooms in a body of water that is high in algal nutrients.
