Can Adderall cause varicose veins?
Varicose veins are purple, spidery veins that are easily visible through the skin. They’re more common in older people, and women in particular. Varicose vein causes include hormonal changes or stress caused by spending too much time standing, such as if you have a job that requires you to be constantly on your feet. Varicose veins occur when circulation becomes inefficient. The walls and valves of the veins become weak, allowing blood to “back up” in the system, creating pools of blood that can become large, bumpy, and even painful. Though varicose veins aren’t listed in the side effects warnings for Adderall, the fact that Adderall can cause high blood pressure and other cardiovascular issues indicates that it could contribute to formation of varicose veins.
