Can a woman use Norplant implants if she is breastfeeding?
Hormonal methods are not considered the most appropriate contraceptives for breastfeeding women. However, studies have shown no significant effects on the growth or health of infants whose mothers used levonorgestrel implants beginning six weeks after childbirth. There is no experience to support the use of Norplant implants earlier than six weeks after childbirth.
