Yes, as long as there is no other reason why breast-feeding is not recommended, such as the mother being HIV positive. Methadone is excreted in the breast milk, but only in amounts too low to present any risk to the baby. Generally speaking, breast feeding is better for a baby than formula feeding and should be encouraged when possible.
