Can a woman in Islam divorce her husband?

Yeah, you’re right that the man only needs to say ‘I divorce you’ three times in the presence of a witness for a divorce to occur. Technically in the Qu’ran men and women have equal rights, and a woman can divorce a man for the same reasons that a man can divorce a woman, including neglect, poor treatment, emotional abuse, inability to have children etc… Also, her family can take her back and force a divorce on the man, with financial compensation (like a return of the dowry in traditional societies). But in the real world its a hell of a lot harder for the woman to divorce the man, as she becomes a part of the mans extended family, and may not have the ability to break free from that.
