Can a white tailed deer have more than one pregnancy in one spring?

Its getting late for a deer to be pregnant. I suspect she has just not returned to her normal size. It is possible that the 2 fawns are not hers and she is in fact pregnant. Does will adopt fawns that have lost their mother either missing or dead. I have seen this many times. But most deer have their fawns at about the same time so unless the fawns are very young I would not expect her to be pregnant. I would keep an eye on her to make sure she is healthy and the fawns are well fed. Mothers with twins usually look pretty thin. If the babies do not look well cared for, like thinness or excessive crying, you may want to contact someone from an animal rescue organization.
