This was selected as Best Answer Quite simply, not really. Recognition programs are aimed at existing employees, not prospective ones. In my experience I’ve yet to have someone choose one company over another based on the existence, design or administration of a recognition program. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a strong supporter of recognition programs and believe that they can add plenty of value. My point is that recognition programs do very little for talent that is not already in the organization. Yes, they can contribute to the overall reputation of the company and to the general feeling (brand) that a company name can embody as an employer of choice. But, recognition programs won’t really contribute to attraction in a significant way. Also, this type of program is what I categorize as “icing on the cake”. So, no recognition program, regardless of how well designed and administered, will ever be a substitute for having all of the other basics right. You need to think about HR programs
