Can a watch be winded continuously? Is a rotator same as a watch winder?
There are certain so called watch winders that simply does nothing but continuously rotate your watch in a continuously manner. There is no internal electronic programming to control the turning direction, and no control to adjust the TPD (Turns per Day). In essence, those are simply a motor attached to some kinds of watch holders to continuously rotate your watch. Long term use of those kinds of rotators would inevitably harm the internal movement and result in excessive stress to the main springs of the watch. While these so called watch winders are usually quite inexpensive, but long term use of these rotators could eventually cause harm to your watches, which could means costly overhaul or repair later on. So the initial small savings on those unprofessional watch winders is indeed more costly in the long run. Astute watch owners are advised not to use these rotator watch winders for their valuable watch collections.
