Well, i’ve had many, many power cuts since I got my first Pentium 3 computer, never once such incident ever damaged any of my PC, or any other electronics hardware in my home actually. But I’ve had my computer being burned by lightning UPS is more useful if you want to ensure that you have say at least 30 mins after power cut to save all your work and shut down. If you want to use it as a power spike protection, its NOT worth it. Yes, any power spike will fry the UPS first before it can get to your PC, but that’s one hell of an expensive hardware. If you are actually looking for protection from power spike, UPS is not the right hardware. You need a surge protector, or a voltage regulator. Actually voltage regulator is very good, it regulates the input power all the time, so you are actually making use of it all the them. And should there be any power cut, the regulator should prevent the spike from ever reaching your computer I use a voltage regulator myself for protection against ligh
