Can a University have more than one portal?

0

The purpose of a portal is to have one place that brings all the information relevant to an individual together. You cannot do that if the information is fragmented between “My Library”, “My Alumni Page”, “My Business Office”, “My Student Services” etc. A portal is a tool for an individual, to help that individual manage the information provided to him by all departments in a University. Portals are not tools for departments. Thus the whole concept of a “My Library” or “My Alumni Page” is flawed, because that’s taking the emphasis off the individual, and putting it on the department providing this limited department-only portal.
