Can a trademark containing an indication of source be used for products and services of any origin?
No. The trademark may not be misleading. A trademark can be registered only for goods or services for which the actual origin corresponds to the indication of source. For more information on this subject see the Institute guidelines on trademarks, section 4, Chapter 8.7 (in German or French (pdf, 1340 KB)).
