Can a tourist file for a divorce while in las vegas?
In order to file for divorce in Nevada, a person must be a Nevada resident. Once upon a time, Nevada was the only state that had “no-fault” divorce, so people would go and live there for the time required to establish residency – 90 days. Now, however, since almost all states have the same thing, the divorce business in Nevada has dropped off considerably. Although this writer is not a resident of Nevada so can’t say for sure, the time necessary to establish Residency has probably gone up, since state residency is now necessary for in-state rates at state universities.
