This bacterial growth will cause repeated infections until the jewellery is removed and cleaned or removed and replaced with new jewellery. Please keep this in mind, all jewellery needs to be removed from piercings and given a really good cleaning every couple of months over an above the normal cleaning you give it when bathing.
