Can a subwoofer be placed inside a piece of furniture or in a different room?
We place about 50% of our subs inside cabinets with great results. Subwoofer frequencies are large and omni-directional, so pointing them directly into the listening area is not necessary. Placing the subwoofer in a different room can be tricky. It would work in theory but it would have to be turned up so loudly to be balanced that it would surely cause problems.
