Can a student retake a quiz if they fail it the first time?
Yes. While we want to provide the opportunity for AP World History students to improve their quiz scores, we want to maintain the rigor and integrity of the course as well. Any student who makes below a 70 on a quiz has the option to retake it (another version with same number of questions). However, they must first come in during tutorials and write a 10-minute essay and show sufficient evidence of content mastery before they retake the quiz. Each short essay must include ten important names, events, or terms from the appropriate chapter, and they must be used appropriately and correctly. The student will be allowed to use the book and their notes if they like. If all the terms are used correctly, then the student earns the opportunity to retake the quiz. The quiz must be retaken within a week of the original, and before the unit exam that covers the same material in an effort to maintain relevance and to provide yet another formative assessment tool for the student and teacher.
