Can a student complete the CSU/UC required a-g coursework if he or she takes Algebra IA as a freshman?
Yes, minimal eligibility to a CSU/UC requires the completion of Algebra II and 2 lab science classes. At LBHS, the math sequence that begins in grade 9 with Algebra IA concludes in grade 12 with Algebra II (i.e., Alg IA, Alg IB, geometry, Alg II). The lab sciences, biology and chemistry, can also be completed by grade 12 with the student taking biology in grade 11 with geometry and taking chemistry in grade 12 with Algebra II.
