Can a snapping turtle really bite off someone’s finger?
Yes. I’ve heard that they are known to snap at anything. The common snapping turtle can get up to 30 pounds and can remove a finger or two. They are very fast and have very long necks. They can reach up to one shell length diameter of the front edge of their shell. However, the alligator snapping turtle can get up to 300 pounds and can remove a significant portion of a hand or foot.
