Can a Sinus Infection Lead to Chest Pain/Shortness of Breath/Heart Flutters?
There are a few organisms that can cause both sets of symptoms. When you have a sinus infection, the fungus or bacterium that inhabits the sinus or ducts that drain the sinus causes the body to react, leading to symptoms you’ve shown. But, the fact that you’re having “major shortness of breath” should urge you to seek medical attention asap. If, before the sinus infection, you could do a 30-minute walk with no heart issues and no breathing issues, then that should be the case with a sinus infection. You should not be experiencing either shortness of breath OR chest pains… whether you have a sinus infection or not. Please seek medical attention. Perhaps you’re dehydrated and have an elevated white blood cell count and/or low hematocrit, but, regardless, you won’t know until you see someone. Also, are you taking any drugs already? Sometimes, medications can work with some issues to cause side effects.
