They help reassure the kids that things will work out, that people care very much about seeing they are taken care of, and help prepare them to succeed if they are placed with a family. Its a very important job! Others, like me, take older kids, usually teens, who will be with them a shorter time. They help convince them to stay in school and prepare them for college or a good job. Most foster parents take small children so caseworkers especially value a good placement for a teen.
