Can A Secondary Group Have Dominance Over A Primary Group?
A Primary Group is definitely more important to us since this comprises our friends and close family, people with whom we share close emotional bonds. Secondary groups are made up of people whom we come in contact with because of some shared goals, for instance our colleagues, classmates at college or members ofthe local club are examples of secondary groups. Primary groups definitely influence our lives more than do secondary groups but in some instances they may be more dominant over primary ones, for instance when we miss a sibling’s wedding or birthday because we are too busy at work. So, it all depends on the situation whether primary groups are more dominant in our lives or secondary groups.
