A – Yes. In Scotland, an NQT can only gain full registration once they have served their probationary period. However, an NQT can choose to complete the probationary period via a number of alternative routes, one of which is to serve induction elsewhere in the UK. If an NQT chooses to do this in England they must register with the GTCE as is usual but the appropriate body must copy all assessments and the final report to the General Teaching Council for Scotland (as well as the GTCE) in order for the NQT to gain full registration.
