Can a released caged bird ever feel free again?

It depends: Do you mean this question metaphorically? (I’m going to take it that way because birds don’t really tell us what they are thinking or feeling – and it’s a good metaphor for human captivity) In the case of a human prisoner, I would say it still depends. I would say that it depends on if the person had maintained their free spirit while caged. Freedom is mostly a state of mind and that can be maintained even while incarcerated. However I would think that it’s much harder to maintain a free state of mind while incarcerated. It’s not really dependent on the length of time or conditions but I would hazard a guess that more people become ‘broken’ after a long time and if there are difficult circumstances. I would think that as long as your spirit isn’t ‘broken’ then you can maintain that feeling of freedom no matter where you are. Or should I say that you can cling to a seed of freedom that you maintain inside your own indominable spirit that will explode into a beautiful flower
