Can a red eared slider, a giant fan tail goldfish, and a african clawed frog live together?
The ammonia produced by the goldfish will have a negative impact on the frog. Frogs absorb everything through their skin. Imagine absorbing pure chlorine into your own skin and bloodstream. Not an ideal situation for your animal. The goldfish will grow very large, but will still be a potential prey item for the turtle. You could wake one morning and find a hunk of flesh missing from the fish. The turtle faces problems of its own. Turtles kept in captivity often suffer from metabolic bone disease because they don’t have access to bask regularly in sunlight. UVB rays are vital to all turtles and most lizards. It allows for the synthesis of vitamin D3 which allows reptiles to process calcium in their system. Additionally, the turtle needs to be able to come out of the water. They are not meant for a life entirely in water. I’m not sure how this can be accomplished very easily in a 55 gallon tank.
