Can a principal ask employees to volunteer?
Yes, if the principal is truly asking, and employees can freely choose not to volunteer, without fear of repercussion. As employers, we must be sure that there is no coercion or pressure on the employee to provide additional services. Although a principal asks for volunteers and a non-exempt employee agrees to volunteer, it still may not be allowed if the volunteer assignment is similar to the employees regular, paid assignment.
