Can a potential employer check health history UK?
When you apply you may have an interview with an occupational health advisor eg. nurse. This is not your employer, they simply hold a file about each employee and recommend ways to manage stress etc in your workplace. I usually tell the truth about the problem but play it down, tell them I am over it, and that I want to move on. They have not had a problem with me doing this and have not told my manager or colleagues (they do not need to know). Since my meeting with occupational health I have heard nothing from them. I am a health professional myself and have direct patient care responsibilities. I happen to suffer from depression and an anxiety disorder. At the end of the day they can’t discriminate against you unless you are a pilot, fire fighter or some other *very* select careers where they can. To be an average teacher, nurse, etc they
