Can a plastic ring spacer damage my engagement ring?
Those little clear plastic tubes? Great, aren’t they! I’ve had a form of rheumatoid -like arthritis for many years..as a result my finger joints have enlarged and sometimes the fingers and or joints swell….so I get rings one half to one full size larger than I measure for in order for the ring to slide over the knuckles, they fit loose about the base of the fingers……. ..Hor-ray for those little plastic spacer tubes….love ’em….and no….they do NOT damage the rings at all. The plastic is soft, pliable and doesn’t scratch..I pick ’em up whenever I find ’em as I loose them from time to time……. You might consider not sizing your ring….age, housework, and pregnancy can cause your ring size to jump over a few years…..I went from a size 51/2 to a 7…..I get 71/2 to 8 now because of the arthritis……and those tubes can be popped off while the ring is still on your finger..better alternative than a too tight ring or having one cut off for medical reasons…..good luck.
