Can a plan member convert their plan under COBRA?

Yes, if they leave their sponsoring employer, they can continue the plan. However, keep in mind that as a membership plan, the employer only agrees to make payroll deductions on behalf of the employee. Members leaving an employer can pay for the VCD plan one of three ways; check, credit card or monthly bank draft. If they choose check or credit card, they simply notify the VCD plan administration office at (877) 488-8900, Ext #7. Our administrators will calculate the balance that they owe for the year. If they choose monthly bank draft the VCD administration office will help them complete paperwork for monthly bank draft.
