Can a piece originally designed for copper foil be done in lead (and vice versa)?

Yes, and No! But with careful planning and some modification, on the whole the answer is Yes Often a piece designed for copper foil can look quite heavy in lead and the pattern may need modifying. Also, copper foil allows more detail to be put into the panel due to the smaller pieces that can be accommodated and the narrower foil joint. When lead in substituted, some of that detail can get lost by the thickness of the lead. On the other hand, a piece designed for lead may look a bit on the delicate side with the slimmer joints that foil produces. Generally I have found that foiled designs (provided they are not too detailed) will convert to lead better than a lead design to foil.
