Can a PI call the IGERT Program Directors to discuss their panel review comments?
The IGERT Program Directors frequently get this question from unsuccessful applicants as well as questions from other applicants for the next competition. The IGERT Program Directors regret that they do not always have time for detailed phone discussions. The substance of the panel discussion has been well-represented in the panel summaries, for the most part. PIs are welcome to email their questions to the IGERT Program Directors and if questions are not adequately answered by that means a telephone call can be arranged. In our experience, such calls are more helpful to prospective PIs when they are used to discuss the general elements of a successful IGERT program rather than to rebut specific panel comments.
