Can a physicians group arbitrarily change pay structure for a new physician without consent or a contract?

0

Physician entered one year contract with 100% pay structure same as physician partners. Contract was verbally extended for 6 months pending partnership negotiations, during which time full pay continued. Said physician was offered partnership, but buy-in logistics were delayed in negotiations after the 6 months extention. Even though negotations were still ongoing for joining the partnership, the group arbitrarily decided to cut the pay of this physician by half and make him an employee. No employee contract was offered up or signed to agree to the pay cut. Now after negotations are over and the physician is about to be a partner, does he have any recourse to get back the amount of pay that was cut last year, since he signed no contract to agree to a pay cut ?
