Can a persons eye color change over a period of time?

I see people here saying they can get lighter. I suppose that is possible, and I’ll believe them on that (it isn’t hard to believe), but my experience is with them being darker. My eyes have always been somewhere in the range of some shade or mixture of grey, blue, and green. As I’ve gotten older, they seem to be green more often (the darker of the colors I mentioned), and when they are blue, they are not as light of a blue as they were when I was younger. Sometimes they may be a mix of these two or may have some grey mixed in, but the point is, they are darker shades of these colors and color mixtures (never pure grey, which I don’t think they ever were that). They still change colors a bit back and forth. Also, as someone said, light affects the color. My cousin has hazel eyes, but when she is in the right light hers actually get this strange color of ….almost yellow. They are bright and very wild looking.
