Can a person overdose by smoking too much marijuana?
You can “overdose” on too much of anything. A woman died earlier this year drinking too much water. Too much of just about any kind of smoke may asphyxiate you. Although only minute amounts of THC (tetrahydrocanabinol) are present in marijuana, again, it is certainly possible to overdo it. I have never heard of a marijuana overdose, but I would not recomend making oneself into a guinea pig.
Is it theoretically possible to overdose on marijuana? Yes. However, it is physically impossible to OD on it in any way. You would need to smoke something like 36 bowls in an airtight room in under an hour without passing out — and you probably would die of smoke inhalation before you OD’ed. Your stomach would explode before you could eat enough of it to OD. Theoretically, you could try to kill yourself using a pure THC IV drip, but that would be a really, really, expensive way to commit suicide, and it might not even work. No one, in the history of humanity, has ever died from a marijuana overdose. The plant is so harmless that the ONLY negative effects from it come from it being illegal (though if you smoke it there IS some lung and throat damage — no cases of smoking related illnesses though!).
