Can a non policy holder change motor insurance deatails?

You are saying that your wife added someone as the third driver on the policy – now if your wife is the named second driver on the policy as per the terms of insurance – she is a policy holder or a “named insured” and so she has the right to add another person to the policy. Secondly the other named driver can be added to the policy only if the person is staying with you and if this is the case you will also have to add the person in your policy if the person holds a driving license. If you do not do that it would be considered a misrepresentation on your part and your policy can be canceled or void and even a claim can be denied.

Data protection should exclude anyone other than the policy holder, unless you have at sometime given your permission for them to deal with her.
