Can a neon sign be fixed once it has broken?
Yes and no, most of the time a neon sign can be repaired. Most neon signs are made up of several sections, called units. If one of the units is broken, it may be possible to either repair the unit or make a new one. Repairs are made by heating a new piece of glass and melting it to the original piece of glass. Once the unit has been fixed, the unit is then reprocessed and refilled with gas. Most shops will not repair units that have had mercury in them. The neon shop will make the unit new instead. If a neon sign has too many breaks in it then it may not be cost effective to repair it. The cost of repair often includes disassembly and and reassembly of the sign, sometimes this can take a significant amount of time and will be priced accordingly.
