There is no state law I can find that requires DPS tow and impound your bike if they catch you riding without a license plate. Now, your city/county may have different laws in place. Typically, if you get caught without plates, you will be pulled over and ticketed. Depending on how far you are from your home of record, the trooper may allow you to go home. If it’s too far in his judgement, he may tell you to leave the bike where it is and make arrangements to have it picked up and transported home.
