Can a midget touch the sky?
Yes. And without even having to reach up too high. The sky is blue, so the blue bit must be the sky. The blue is created by atmospheric scattering of light and the scattering is much stronger at the blue end of the visible spectrum. The scattering happens in all parts of the atmosphere, including the bit just above your head, so that must be where the sky starts. As you increase your altitude you never go through a blue layer. All that happens is that the blue gets darker and darker until the point when you reach the upper edge of the atmosphere, at which point all you see is the blackness of space.
