When requesting higher than the minimum educational standard for a given occupational group, the manager has the authority to accept an alternative as long as that alternative does not go below the minimum educational standard. When used, the alternative must be specified on the Statement of Merit Criteria. Note: Employer-approved alternatives are not intended to be used in lieu of an alternative.
